To install Android apps in Windows 11, users need to set Windows Subsystem. Here are the steps that can come in handy.

  • Download Windows Subsystem for Android, make sure to keep the location as United States.
  • Open the Windows Subsystem for Android
  • Open settings in the application and enable “Developer mode”
  • Once the process is complete, click on the refresh button
  • Copy the IP address or jot it down somewhere
  • In case, IP address is not assigned then go to Manager developers settings
  • Tap on Wireless debugging and copy the IP address

Connect to Windows Subsystem Through Android Debugging Bridge

Set up Android Debugging Bridge (ADB) easily on Android phones and Windows 11. Go to “About Phone” on Android device settings and click on Build number seven consecutively. If you didn’t find the Build number under About us, search for the option directly in Settings.

Now your Android device has enabled Developer options. To connect the computer and Android device, enable debugging under System > Developer Options and click on File Transfer (MTP) mode.

Set up ADB on Windows and open the folder using a file archiver utility like WinRAR. Click on the address bar, type cmd, hit enter, and the ADB directory’s prompt window will open. Execute “abd devices” after connecting Windows to Android device.

On your smartphone, you will get a USB debugging prompt where you have to tick off the “Always allow” button and hit allow. The Command Prompt window will display the serial number of a device. If the number is not shown, run “adb devices” again to get the final output.

Now download the Platform Tools to sideload the APKs of Android apps. Extract the files on any location or desktop, click on the address bar, enter cmd, and press enter key to open Command Prompt.

Then connect to Windows Subsystem for Android with the following command, use the IP address noted above instead of IP_Address to get the output “Connected to IP_address”.

In case of failed connection, rerun the command and run “adb devices” to connect with Windows Subsystem for Android.
