Android Studio is the official IDE (integrated development environment) for Android development. This is build on IntelliJ software application and specifically for Android development.
This tutorial will help you for installing Android Studio on Ubuntu system using snap package manager.
Prerequisites
- A running Ubuntu 20.04 Desktop system access
- Login as sudo privileged user
Step 1 – Installing Android Studio
Android Studio IDE application is available on the Snapcraf store. The Ubuntu 20.04 LTS systems are the pre configured to use snap package management utility.
Open a terminal on your system and run the following command to install Android Studio.
sudo snap install android-studio --classic
Once the installation completed, you will see the output like:
android-studio 3.6.3.0 from Snapcrafters installed
Step 2 – Launch Android Studio
Search for the Android studio under the applications. You will see the application launcher button as below:
Launch Android studio by clicking on the application. During the first time startup, application will show you a wizard to initialize the environment. Follow the wizard and configure the environment as per the your choices. It will also prompt install the required components for Android Studio.
After completing the initialization wizard. Your Android studio is ready for use.
