Apple’s Vision Pro Headset Launch Is Nearing, Says Ming-Chi Kuo news

Tech giant Apple will begin sending mass shipments of its Vision Pro headset “in the first week of January”, noted Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has claimed in his latest note. The tech analyst also said that the Cupertino-based tech company would step up on the bringing the mixed-reality headset to the market soon and launch it through the Apple Stores towards the end of January 2024 or early February itself.

After Apple unveiled the Vision Pro headset in June 2023, it was rumoured that the tech giant would bring the mixed-reality headset to the stores by March 2024. But now, it seems like the launch could be shifted towards the early first quarter of 2024.

Apple Is Betting Big on The Vision Pro Headset

Kuo claims in his note that Apple plans to ship “approximately 500,000” Vision Pro devices. The Vision Pro VR headset is one of the most important products for Apple as it marks Apple’s foray into a new product category and the most important if we look at the VR headset market. For that very reason, the tech behemoth would not want to leave any stone unturned orchestrating the perfect launch, as the large number of Vision Pro devices quoted in the note strongly suggest.

Ming-Chi Kuo’s claims are in line with those made by Mark Gurman, who predicted last week that the Apple Vision Pro headset would be available for purchase “by February”. The Bloomberg tech journo said in his report that Apple’s factories in China have ratcheted up the production of Vision Pro units, with the production running at “full-speed”.

Apple Yet to Announce the Launch

Both Kuo are Gurman are reliable sources of information when it comes to Apple products and their reports and claims about a certain product in-development are watched closely by the tech industry. Apple, as usual, keeps the product launch schedules pretty close to the chest. Well, January is just less than a week away and the wait for the tech giant’s launch announcement could be over soon.

How Ming-Chi Kuo Could Be Very Accurate About the Apple Vision Pro Launch

The key thing to notice here is that both Ming-Chi Kuo and Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman predict the VR headset launch to happen within the first two months of 2024, and that’s something that gives more power to what Kuo latest claims say.

The Vision Pro Headset Launch: Apple’s Preparations

Apple’s Vision Pro headset would be customizable for each wearer and for the same reason, the tech company will make its employees and Apple Store staff go through two-day training sessions to learn how to setup the VR headset properly, Gurman claimed earlier in his report.

A Delicate And Time-Consuming Process

As per Gurman, the Vision Pro headset comes with customized components that need to be assembled and pretty well up to the point of sale. That, and finding the right fit for each buyer make purchasing the Apple Vision Pro a delicate and time-consuming process.

The mixed-reality headset is mighty expensive as well ($3,500 price tag). With that being said, Apple would want everything about the launch and sale to go on as smoothly as possible; That’s why the tech giant is doubling down on training its staff well for the complex launch.

The Apple Vision Pro Headset: The Fit Needs To Be Perfect

The Vision Pro sale is something Apple cannot rush with as it requires time and patience, both on part of the wearer and the Apple staff to recognize the perfect personalized fit for the product. The right fit on the user’s head is quite important as without it, the VR headset wouldn’t display content properly. Also, the misalignment may cause the headset to feel a lot heavier.

Gurman also said in his report that Apple has also sent an email to software developers so that they could start testing their apps and send their softwares to the tech giant for feedback. So yes, it looks like Apple’s preparations for the VR headset rollout are in right earnest.

The Apple Vision Pro is expected to be a game changer in the VR headset industry and since it has to be customized according to the buyer, it makes sense for Apple to invest enough time in imparting the necessary training to its staff and employees.
